Our Work
Naloxone Accessibility
Given the unprecedented scale of the opioid epidemic, we strongly believe that everyone should have access to Naloxone, a life-saving medication that reverses opioid overdoses. We distribute Naloxone to community members and organizations, small business owners, homeless shelters, food banks, health clinics, and students. We organize walkarounds in neighborhoods with significant overdose deaths to distribute Naloxone kits and spread awareness of harm reduction strategies. Similar to EpiPens, AEDs, and fire extinguishers, accessible Naloxone will enable split-second interventions that will save countless lives.
Naloxone Administration Training
Accessible Naloxone must be couped with widespread awareness on how and when to use it. The pervasiveness of “fentapills”, which are fentanyl-laced fake prescription pills, puts more of us at risk of an overdose than we realize. When they find themselves in a bystander intervention opportunity, people must be ready to administer naloxone, whether it’s at work, at a restaurant, or while waiting for the bus. In too many cases, bystanders have the only opportunity to prevent an overdose death as the paramedics were called or arrived too late, and so they must be prepared. We provide Naloxone administration training to community members, volunteers at non-profits, and students.
Community Building
We organize community forums that bring together people to learn about and discuss issues related to the opioid crisis. The purpose of these events is to empower the public with accurate information needed to protect themselves and others from the opioid epidemic. They emphasize the root causes and systemic factors that need to be redressed to address the epidemic. They provide spaces for individual and community empowerment through deliberation, learning, and knowledge co-creation.
Community Engagement
We frequently participate in farmers' markets, resource fairs, and other community events to engage with the public. At these events, we raise awareness about the opioid crisis and provide resources to community members. We aim to strengthen the movement to
Advocacy
We are committed to using our voice and experiences to advocate for policy changes that address the root causes of the opioid crisis. We work tirelessly to reduce stigma, improve access to treatment, and promote harm reduction strategies. We collaborate with other organizations, lawmakers at all levels, and community leaders to ensure that the voices of those most affected by the opioid crisis are heard and that their needs are prioritized.
